Ausf E - Late Production Tamiya Kit #35146 This is my second 1/35 scale model. It is Tamiya kit # 35146- a World War 2 German late production version Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger - Sd.Kfz.181 Ausf E (H1). It is much better known as a Tiger Tank. I am building this tank to resemble one of the Tigers assigned to the 1st Company of sSSPzAbt 102. All twelve Tigers from sSSPzAbt 102 were destroyed in six weeks of fighting in Normandy but reported 227 Allied tanks destroyed. Again I am adding additional parts in order to make the model more accurate.In particular a Verlinden Tiger I Detail Set (#1177), a Verlinden #VP1250 Tiger IE Zimmerit set, an Aber 1/35 Tiger 1 E Photo-Etch Detail Set (# 36-015), a Jordi Rubio 1/35 German 8.8cm KwK 36 turned brass gun barrel (JR-08), a Tank Workshop front plate (#TW2019) and rear engine deck (#TW2018), and a set of workable ModelKasten Tiger I (late) tracks. Again the pictures below are not of my model. Quite obviously it does not have the markings of sSSPzAbt 102. I am merely using these pictures to illustrate the quality of model I am attempting to build.
