Our vacation in Hawaii: As most of you know Connie and I never had a
honeymoon. I did promise her we would go to Hawaii for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. Well,
we hit 25 years and I had to pay up. Here's just a few of the the many pictures we took
while we were in Hawaii as we hit all the "touristy" places including Waikiki
Beach, the Arizona Memorial, the Battleship Missouri and the USS Bowfin Submarine at the United States Naval Base Pearl Harbor. and the Polynesian Cultural Center. We also took a helicopter
tour of the Kilauea volcano on the big island of Hawaii with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters. They provided us a
video tape of our flight using several cameras mounted in the helicopter with background
music and the pilot's narration. We also found a wonderful place to stay- the Parc Waikiki where the beach is a half block
away.

Okay, let's go through the pictures. At the very top left is a panoramic
shot of the sunset on the last night we spent in Hawaii. The beaches are all very crowded
at this time time for obvious reasons. Row #1 is a shot of Waikiki Beach from a Catamaran
as we cruised off the beach, Diamond Head and then a close-up of a private club at the
base of Diamond Head. Row #2 is Connie on the deck of the catamaran and then sitting in
our rental car (a Mustang convertible!) and then a shot from a public park just south of
the hotel. The third row is the Arizona Memorial as we left on a launch, an overhead
shot (that I didn't take) that shows how the memorial sits atop of the battleship and the
last picture is the WW II submarine USS Bowfin with the Battleship Missouri and the
Arizona Memorial in the background.
Row #4 is a closer shot of the Missouri as we approached from the bow. We spent an hour or
so going through the ship. The next picture is one of the many shots we took at the
Polynesian Cultural Center. The center is located on the North Shore of Oahu and we took a
day-long tour which explained about all Polynesian Islands- not just Hawaii. One of the
things I've always wanted to do is tour the Kilauea Volcano on the big island of Hawaii.
Thanks to free airline tickets from our hotel (I told you it was a great place) we flew to
the big island and spent an hour touring the volcano by helicopter- the photos from row
#5. Finally, another panoramic shot from the catamaran off Waikiki Beach where I
discovered the music of the late Israel
Kamakawiwo'ole- often known as 'Brother IZ'. The pictures presented here simply do not
do justice to the clarity or the intensity of the blue water.
