SdKfz.181 Tiger I Ausf E - Mid Production (updated 11/21/02) Academy Kit #1348 This is my third 1/35 scale model tank- an Academy kit this time, # 1348. Again a World War 2 German SdKfz.181 Tiger I Ausf E. This is the mid production version. The Academy version also has a completely detailed interior and engine compartment. I am again using additional detail parts- a Verlinden Tiger I Detail Set (#1177), an Aber 1/35 Tiger 1 E Photo-Etch Detail Set (# 36-015) and a Jordi Rubio 1/35 German 8.8cm KwK 36 turned brass gun barrel (JR-08). On this model I am using a portion of a Cavalier Resin Zimmerit Kit for the late version of the Tiger (#CAV-101). The remaining portions of the zimmerit coating is done by hand with Tamiya putty. Instead of ModelKasten tracks I am using an Academy Tiger I Individual Track Link Set (ACA-1364). That's unless I can locate a set of Fruilmodel white metal tracks at a reasonable price! The construction of this tank is much more detailed than anything I've done before so it will take a long time to finish. The picture below is a finished Academy Tiger I- just not mine.
